Commitment
Most volunteers commit to one three-or four-hour shift per week. Day and weekend shifts are available. In addition, there may also be project opportunities depending on your unique skills and interests.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways you can help make a difference at Knox Community Hospital. Your cheerful, caring attitude can make a significant impact on a patient's hospital stay. Some volunteer opportunities include:
Gift Shop
Work in a retail setting; assist customers with purchases, operate cash register and restock displays.
Front Desk
Greet and provide information and directions to all visitors, give patient information, answer phone inquires, deliver flowers, newspapers and mail to patients.
Surgery Waiting
Keep family and friends updated on the patient's progress during surgery. Walking family members and friends to consult rooms.
Central Registration
Greet outpatients and assist patients. Registering patients, taking paperwork back and forth to Diagnostic Imaging. Answering the phone. Performing clerical duties for other departments if needed.
Medical Pavilion Greeter
Greeting patients and families. Provide information and directions.
Cancer Clinic
Greet patients. Answer the phone; alphabetize charts, anything the nurses may need help with.
Specialty Clinic
Greet patients. Answer the phone; alphabetize charts, anything the nurses may need help with.
Day Surgery
Replace cups and glasses, make coffee, fill blanket warmer, and make food as ordered by patients, transport patients to car by wheelchair, strip beds and put in dirty laundry containers and any other jobs requested by the nurses.
Lab Courier
Transports items between Knox Medical Pavilion and Knox Community Hospital.

KCH Auxiliary Volunteers
The purpose of the Knox Community Hospital Auxiliary is to render services to Knox Community Hospital and its patients and to assist Knox Community Hospital in promoting the health and welfare of the community in accordance with the mission and vision established by the institution.

Volunteen Program
Our volunteen program was developed to give students considering a career in a medical field an opportunity to volunteer in a hospital environment. Three sessions run throughout the school year and one session runs throughout the summer. You must be at least 14 years old and have completed the eighth grade to participate.
