Stress Echo



A stress echo is a test which requires you to walk on a treadmill. Ultrasound pictures of your heart will be taken, before and after you walk on the treadmill. Small patches called electrodes are attached to your chest to monitor your heart rate and rhythm.
  • Expect to be at the hospital 1½ to 2 hours
  • You may eat a light breakfast
  • No caffeine for 24 hours prior to test
  • No smoking
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing
  • Please wear walking shoes
  • Do not take beta blocker medications for 24 hours prior to test
  • You must be able to walk on a treadmill for this test
