The Medical Unit is committed to working in partnership with you and your physician to get you well and keep you healthy. Through the knowledge, skills, and experience of our physicians and health care team, we provide high-quality health care for you and your family, close to your home.

The medical unit consists of 32 private patient rooms, each with its own private bathroom. The Medical Unit is located on the 6th floor of the hospital and many of our rooms offer wonderful views of Mount Vernon and the surrounding area.

The nursing staff on the Medical Unit not only cares for adults, but also for infancts and pediatric patients as well.
The Palliative Care Unit is also housed on the 6th floor. This unit is unique in that it does not have a traditional "hospital" look. The 2 rooms are designed with a home-like atmosphere and there are family rooms next to each of these. Palliative Care is initiated at the time of diagnosis of a life-threatening illness or to control symptoms related to them. Each patient/family member is provided general and individual information about the patient's particular disease, treatment modalties and general care. The Palliative Care Team has been especially trained to provide physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to the patient and caregiver by relieving suffering. Pain management is also addressed.

The Joint Commission Knox Community Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations
