|  |  The Knox Community Hospital Pathology staff provides sophisticated services contributing to the highest quality healthcare in our community. The mission of Knox Community Hospital Laboratory Services is to provide high quality, safe, timely and cost effective diagnostic data to assist clinicians and other healthcare providers evaluate and treat patients. This will be accomplished with service excellence at its core.
Knox Community Hospital laboratory is open 24 hours a day. The laboratory supports all hospital departments, many nursing homes and 30 physician offices. Phlebotomy services are staffed for outpatient service 7:00am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday and 7:00am to 1:00pm Saturday in the hospital. An additional phlebotomy station operates 7:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday at the Knox Medical Pavilion.
For the year 2007, our phlebotomists drew blood for 28,000 outpatients. Our lab produced 1,300,000 results, released 2,000 units of blood for transfusion, investigated 8,000 microbiology cultures, and processed 5,300 tissue cases for pathology study.
