Building Services is a team of professionals who are responsible for ensuring that the hospital campus is kept in excellent condition.

Disinfecting the patient room is a major priority of the Building Services team. You will find our friendly environmental specialists cleaning the hospital facility 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We strive to provide each patient and visitor a clean environment. Each occupied patient room is cleaned daily and supplied with essentials for the patient's use. The room is disinfected, provided with clean linen, and checked to be sure everything is in working order.

Patient rooms are just a small part of our environmental responsibilities. We clean and maintain over 205,595 square feet of space. This includes all departments, offices, nurses' stations, waiting rooms, halls, public restrooms and lobbies. Daily duties also include all areas of floor care from maintaining a high-buff shine on the tile to the cleaning of the carpet.

Building Services is responsible for the provision of clean linens for our patients. Seven days a week, an environmental specialists stocks and transport clean linens to patient areas of the hospital. Throughout a 24 hours period, the soiled linens are picked up from all areas and prepared for transport to a contracted laundry service.

Controlling the mechanical, electrical, HVAC and generator are some of the many requirements of the Building Services team. The Department is responsible for ensuring that the hospital complex and campus are kept in excellent shape, through building repairs, maintenance and control of the mechanical, electrical, heat and ventilation systems. Maintaining the Life Safety Equipment such as fire alarms, sprinkler system, smoke dampers and electric generator assures the hospital is 100% operational. This ensures that in case of a power outage or a disaster the hospital is safe haven.

The campus of Knox Community Hospital is maintained by Building Services, which includes mowing grass, landscaping, weeding flower beds, mulching, trimming trees, or removal of snow and ice.

The security of patients and guests at Knox Community Hospital is provided through Building Services. Security is available 24 hours a day through an outside contractor. You will see the uniformed personnel in the hospital and patrolling the grounds. They are here for your safety and to offer assistance if the need arises.
Building Services personnel keep the hospital clean and disinfected.
The Knox Medical Pavilion on the campus is another responsibility of the Building Services Department. To meet the needs of the community, Knox Community Hospital constructed a 55,241 sq. foot facility that offers specialized services and private medical offices. The Knox Medical Pavilion is connected to the hospital by an underground tunnel, which provides quick, convenient access to other services provided in the main building. The building of this facility will provides local services for the community eliminating time and travel out of the area for medical services.

The employees of the Building Services Department at Knox Community Hospital are proud of the facility and grounds. We strive to make each patient feel comfortable and relaxed as they recuperate and gain strength to return home. We are here to serve you. If you are in need of our services, please ask and we will do everything we can to fill that need.

Building Services is part of Knox Community Hospital's one team united in caring.
