At Knox Community Hospital, one of our goals is to provide you with the highest quality of healthcare. Advances in technology are allowing us to perform more surgical procedures as day surgeries, reducing the time you are away from your job and lowering the cost of hospitalization.
The Day Surgery and Pre-Surgical Screening departments staff nine registered nurses with over 200 years of experience to take care of patients of all ages. We average 300+ cases a month. Frequent surgeries include Endoscopy, Cataract, ENT, Orthopedic, D&C/ Laparoscope, and many others.
Once your surgeon has scheduled your procedure, a registered nurse from Pre-Surgical Screening will call you to make arrangements for an assessment, blood work, and other testing requested by your physician. They will also give you surgery specific instructions.
The next step is Day Surgery, where staff will finish getting you ready for surgery. Following your surgical procedure you will return to Day Surgery until you are stable for discharge.
You will receive written instruction about what to expect at home. The following day we will call to check and see how you are doing.
Pre-Surgical Screening
A registered nurse from the hospital will call to arrange a time for an assessment and testing needed before your surgery. Please report to the Central Registration area 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to be registered.
Please bring the following: List of all medications you are taking (with dosages), your insurance card, and any office paperwork given to you by your physician.
Knox Community Hospital is located at 1330 Coshocton Road in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Please park in the front of the hospital. Registration is located on the first floor in the center of the hospital. You will be directed to Pre-Surgical Screening, also on the first floor where your assessment, lab work, and testing will be done in the Day Surgery area.
